Petrobras awards new contracts to FMC Technologies and Subsea 7.
Subsea 7 has been awarded contracts for three new-build PLSVs for Petrobras, according a press release from the company. The contracts have a combined value (at the time of contract signature) of approximately US$1.6 billion for the construction and operation of three new-build flexible pipe-lay support vessels (PLSVs).
The work scope of each of these 5 year contracts is similar to that of the PLSVs which Subsea 7 currently operates offshore Brazil, comprising project management, engineering and installation of flowlines, umbilicals and equipment supplied by Petrobras.
The three new PLSVs are of similar design to the Seven Waves, and will be constructed in Holland at the IHC Merwede shipyard. The vessels are scheduled to be delivered in Q3 2016, Q4 2016 and Q2 2017 respectively. They are designed for operation in water depths of up to 3,000 metres, and will be equipped with a pipe-lay system for installing flexible flowlines and umbilicals, including a Lay System tower with 550 tonnes top tension capability, twin underdeck baskets capable of storing up to 4,000 tonnes of flexible flowlines and two state of the art ROVs. The total cost of the three vessels, including inventories, commissioning and mobilization to Brazil, is approximately US$950 million.

In a separate press release, Subsea 7 announces the award of another contract with a value of around U$450 million from Petrobras. The contract is for the operation of the Pipe Lay Support Vessel (PLSV) Seven Phoenix on a day rate basis for five years, with operations starting in the third quarter of this year.
The vessel has operated for Petrobras for several years and is currently under contract with this client. The work scope of the contract is similar to that of other PLSVs Subsea 7 currently operates offshore Brazil, comprising project management, engineering and installation of flowlines, umbilicals and equipment supplied by Petrobras.

Petrobras also renewed the lease of the Pipe Lay Support Vessel (PLSV) Normand Seven recently.
The vessel has operated for Petrobras for several years and is currently under contract with this client. The work scope of the contract is similar to that of other PLSVs which Subsea 7 currently operates offshore Brazil, comprising project management, engineering and installation of flowlines, umbilicals and equipment supplied by Petrobras.

On July 3, FMC Technologies announced that it has received an order from Petrobras for the supply of subsea trees for its pre-salt fields, located offshore Brazil.
FMC Technologies has 3 subsidiaries in Norway; FMC Kongsberg Subsea, FMC Production Services and FMC Kongsberg Metering.
The value of this latest award is estimated at $500 million and represents the call-off of the remaining value of the $1.5 billion agreement announced in March of 2012.
The order includes 49 subsea trees, tooling, and associated subsea controls. The trees are scheduled to be installed in multiple pre-salt fields for both production and injection wells. The equipment will be designed and manufactured at FMC Technologies’ facilities in Brazil.
“This is the second order for subsea trees under the contract signed in 2012,” said Tore Halvorsen, FMC Technologies’ Senior Vice President of Subsea Technologies.
“FMC Technologies has been working with Petrobras for more than 30 years and we are pleased to support them in the continued development of their pre-salt fields.”
