Organized by OTC and Instituto Brasileiro de Petróleo, Gás e Biocombustíveis (IBP), the conference and exhibition focuses on Brazil’s deepwater offshore sector. It is currently one of the world’s foremost events for the development of offshore resources in the fields of drilling, exploration, production, and environmental protection.
The technical program, which includes more than 250 peer-selected technical papers, will assess all aspects of offshore drilling and wells systems, floating structures, and advanced subsea production, as well as the increasingly complex integrity management used to keep them operating.
Tuesday’s opening session features keynote speakers Maria das Graҫas Foster, CEO, Petrobras, and Lars Christian Bacher, development & production international executive vice president, Statoil.
João Ferraz, CEO of Sete Brasil will talk about the local construction of 28 new state-of-the-art drilling rigs during a luncheon on the last day of the event.
Technical sessions
The Norwegian presence at this year’s OTC Brasil is no less than significant. Statoil representatives are participating in several technical sessions.
They will share what steps are being taken to develop a subsea factory, their experiences on reservoir characterization on the Peregrino field and on the efforts of increasing oil recovery on the Grane field.
“Deepwater floating production systems in harsh environment” is the title of another presentation from Statoil during OTC.
DNV representatives will present an overview about the importance of offshore environmental risk analysis. in Brazil and Norway during a session on tools and methodology applied to risk and integrity.
Speakers from Aker Solutions are scheduled to talk about movable chain jacks and winches when they present a case study of Petrobras’ P58/P62 and Eni’s Goliat FPSOs.
Kongsberg Oil&Gas representatives will give a presentation on flexible subsea storage unit development and applications.
Representatives from FMC Technologies and Norske Shell will share experiences on flow assurances on the Ormen Lange field.

The OTC exhibition showcases the latest technologies and equipment from more than 250 companies. In addition to a host of Brazilian companies, exhibitors from the United States, Canada, China, France, Italy, Germany, Norway, and the United Kingdom will also be in attendance.
There is no Norwegian pavilion at this year’s OTC, but DNV, Kongsberg Oil&Gas, Rolls-Royce, FMC Technologies and the agent M&O Partners who represent several smaller Norwegian companies, are among the exhibitors with close connections to Norway.

Seminar and cocktail
On the occasion of OTC Brasil 2013, The Royal Norwegian Consulate General and Innovation Norway, in cooperation with INTSOK and the Norwegian Brazilian Chamber of Commerce, are hosting a seminar on how to achieve local content in Brazil.
Marcelo Mafra, ANP´s chief of the local content coordination department will give an introduction on the Brazilian regulations on local contents, and representatives from Palfinger Dreggen, Statoil and Petrobras are scheduled to talk about their policies and share their experiences.
Please note that there might still occur smaller changes in the program.
The seminar takes place on October, 28 from 14:00- 18:00 at the JW Marriott Hotel in Copacabana, and will be followed by a cocktail.
Innovation Norway is also organizing a visit for four Norwegian companies to Rio during the OTC week. Eight representatives from the companies Pixavi, Maritime Robotics, Metas and Ecotone will spend 4 days in Brazil. On October 28, Innovation Norway will host an internal seminar for the visitors, that focuses on how to do business in Brazil, on cultural differences, labor issues and how to establish a company.
On Thursday October 31, the group will have individual meetings with relevant market players and potential partners.
