The Diversity committee is the 3rd new committee created in 2020, a year marked by social distancing and other restrictions.

Since March, NBCC adopted an all-virtual agenda, and the meetings and webinars of our working committees have contributed to adding value and have served as alternative networking arenas for our associates throughout a very challenging year.

Earlier this year, NBCC launched a Technology and Trends Committee and a Communication Committee. The Diversity Committee aims to create a space for progress, development and exchange of experiences on diversity, with the mission of facilitating the positive transfer of Norwegian culture and experiences to Brazil and make the work environment more inclusive and diverse.

Pilar Neves, Project Manager of Innovation Norway South America, has been invited to chair the new committee, which has the support of Innovation Norway, The Norwegian Consul General and the Norwegian Embassy in Brasilia.

Earlier this year, Innovation Norway launched a set of diversity guidelines for Norwegian companies and stakeholders in Brazil. The guidelines include several actions that the companies can adopt, where communication, training, strategy, policies and facilities are key words. Access the document here.

Innovation Norway´s efforts were also presented as one of the cases in the report “Mainstreaming gender in investment promotion”, published by UNCTAD – United Nations Conference Trade and Development. Read the report here.

Edson Lopes of Yara will accompany Pilar as vice-coordinator of the new committee. The Norwegian fertilizer giant is one of the Norwegian companies in Brazil that started adopting diversity policies several years ago.

The committee will formally be launched during a webinar on December 2, 2020, during ROG Digital 2020.

The webinar “Boosting diversity in business: How the Norwegian mindset can inspire progress in Brazilian company culture” features a presentation from Acting Country Manager of Equinor, Ms. Letícia Andrade as well as a CEO panel with executives from the companies Kongsberg Maritime, Aker Solutions and IKM Testing.
