“Stop talking and start acting”

The corporate world is increasingly taking an interest in becoming more inclusive, but everyone seems to think that more is happening than it actually is, says Marie Louise Sunde, founder of Equality Check.

She was our guest in the first event during the Team Norway 2021 marathon for women, and in a virtual session on Zoom  she talked to Pilar Neves, Project Manager of Innovation Norway South America. Pilar is also the coordinator of NBCC´s Diversity Committee.

Marie Louise Sunde is the founder of the platform, Equality Check, where employees can leave anonymous reviews about equal opportunity, workplace culture, work/life balance, the management’s commitment to diversity and more. The founders of the platform believe it is possible to create a better workplace for everyone through transparency and accountability.

“You can call it TripAdvisor for the workplace, where employees can leave their reviews. A company needs five reviews to go online”, she explains.

Marie is a medical doctor, and holds a PhD in surgery. In 2018, she quit her job as a senior surgical resident to work full time as CEO in Equality Check.  Sunde is also the founder behind the youth-led organization #Hunspanderer in Norway 2015. #HunSpanderer has had two successful campaigns addressing unconscious bias and gender stereotypes reaching millions of people. Following the campaigns the founders saw a significant call for action and solutions on how to improve diversity in the workplace, and as a result, Equality Check was created.

“The world is diverse and all companies are providing services or products to the world, so to meet and see the needs of the clients, you need to reflect this diversity in your production team. Today, stakeholders demand is increasing and companies have to adapt. But what we need now, is to stop talking and start acting. Our goal is to ensure an equal workplace globally”, Marie Louise Sunde said in her chat with us.

Gender Equality will not be solved anytime soon unless we speed up the process, it says on the platform website. Would you like to know more about the platform, click here: https://www.equalitycheck.it/
