In a remarkable display of unity and shared commitment to a sustainable future, over 250 individuals gathered on October 9 at the Copacabana Palace Hotel to participate in a pivotal discussion on the ongoing energy transition. Hosted in collaboration with the Royal Norwegian Consulate in Rio and Innovation Norway, this event was a testament to the power of collaboration and the pursuit of cleaner, more efficient energy solutions.

The distinguished guest list included the Norwegian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Anniken Huitfeldt, and the President of Petrobras, Jean-Paul Prates, among others.

These experts represented a wide spectrum of industries and backgrounds, emphasizing the multifaceted approach needed to drive the energy transition forward.

 

 

 

The event wasn’t confined to mere discussions but extended to explore practical solutions for the future. Speakers like Cristiane Abreu, Managing Director of Oil, Mining, and Naval Industry at FINEP, and Alex Imperial, VP and Market Manager at DNV, offered industry-specific insights, highlighting the pivotal role the private sector plays in the transition.

The collaboration between public and private sectors was evident as well. Giovani Vitória Machado, Director of EPE, discussed the role of the Brazilian government in shaping energy policies, while the presence of Fernando De Lapuerta, President of Statkraft Brazil, showcased the importance of sustainable energy generation on a grand scale.

The involvement of global companies such as Norsk Hydro, Yara Brasil, Equinor, and Solstad Offshore ASA, as represented by speakers like Sandy Sutherland, Marcelo Altieri, Veronica Coelho, and Felipe Meira, underscored the need for international corporations to be at the forefront of the energy transition.

The event’s participants were not only experts but also individuals passionate about change, exemplified by the inclusion of organizations like Dream Learn Work, with representatives Yasmim Nogueira and Halvard Idland, as well as Mariana França, Technology and Environment Deputy Superintendent at ANP, the National Agency for Petroleum, Natural Gas, and Biofuels.

This symposium emphasized that collective efforts and the collaboration of organizations and individuals from various fields are the driving force behind the energy transition.
