The Norwegian government has established a new agency, the Export Strategy Council. The agency will connect the Norwegian business community and the export-oriented national policy instruments with the aim to identify some larger strategic export initiatives and develop these into targeted projects to accelerate value-creating exports.
Through collaborative work in jointly deciding, financing and implementing new initiatives, both private and public stakeholders will commit to projects in order to release an additional potential for increased exports. A main task will be to carry out strategic analysis of the export potential in Norwegian business and industry and identify international market potential for Norwegian solutions.
The council is headed by Arvid Moss, director of Hydro Energy, who is accompanied by Kathrine Myhre, Norway´s patent agency, Tore Ulstein, Ulstein Group ASA, Helle Moen, former Innovation Norway director in Brazil and currently the regional director of Eggs Design, director Håkon Haugli, of Innovation Norway, Kristine A. Leach, Jotun AS, Brage W. Johansen, Heimdall Power and gründer/manager Sonja Dønne, Heymat.
Now they will start with the further establishment and development of the Export Strategy Council, among other things by recruiting a managing director for the agency.
“This is a solid and competent board that I am sure will contribute to Norway becoming an even better export nation. It has been important for me to connect the business community closely to the strategic export work, and we will achieve this with this investment”, says Minister of Trade and Industry, Iselin Nybø.
The Export Strategy Council will work strategically and purposefully with exports, together with the business community. The agency shall prioritize and promote the industries that have special competitive advantages and link these with concrete opportunities in the world markets.
“Politicians can not “adopt” increased exports. Our job is to facilitate that exports and export value increase, together with the business community. We will play on a team with those who create value, and when Norwegian companies and policy makers come together in this way, they can jointly take advantage of several opportunities in large international markets”, says the Minister of Trade and Industry.
