In the first webinar in 2021, several opportunities for collaboration on RD&I were presented by high-level speakers. There are plenty of funding schemes available for Norwegian and Brazilian enterprises willing to work together.

The webinar was organized by NBCC´s Technology and Trends Committee, and was brilliantly moderated by Marianne Jensen, Counsellor for Science, Technology and Higher Education at Innovation Norway South America and Vice-Coordinator of the committee.

More than 30 participants were present in the online seminar on January 27, 2021.

Andreas Quamme Nielsen, from the Research Council of Norway (RCN), talked about two different calls for innovation projects that are available for the industry and also about the joint call from RCN and Finep, where the thematic scope is challenges in the upstream, offshore petroleum industry. According to Cristiane Abreu from Finep, at total of 5 million reais and 15 million NOK will be granted 3-5 different projects. She also outlined several other RD&I instruments that FINEP has.

Charlotte Grawits, representing EURAXESS, explained how Brazilian companies can get access to EU funding and calls, and also how the European Comission funds post.doc and PHD degrees in Europe and Norway for Brazilian citizens .

Laila Linde Lossiu, told the participants in the webinar about the incentive schemes that Norwegian Agency for International Cooperation and Quality Enhancement in Higher Education (DIKU) offers, and shared a case story of a Norwegian intern in Kongsberg Maritime in Brazil. With support from DIKU,  companies can open their doors to Norwegian students.

The webinar was recorded and is available to NBCC members. Presentations are also available.

The meeting was the first of a total of 8 that the Technology and Trends committee has planned for 2021. The agenda is still not totally confirmed, but ESG, mindhacking, cybersecurity, 4.0 industry and 5G technology are all among the topics the committee will address this year.
